About Our Minister
Rev. David Cooper.
David was born in Ilford, Essex. His family had been in the East End of London for many generations and Methodism runs in his family. He offered for the ministry at the age of 20, was sent to Manchester to train and has never looked back, serving in the North and Midlands ever since. (It must be the air up here!) David is married to Ros and they have five children. (Again, it must be the air up here!)
David is well known in Methodism for resourcing music. He has been music director at 'Easter People'; he has run worship bands and Youth Choirs; he is a Methodist Organ Advisor and has built several pipe-organs over the years; he has developed an organ that plays itself and he has installed these in over 100 Methodist churches that have no organist.
David is a Prison Chaplain at Thorn Cross YOI and his other interests include Railways and Canals. Whilst serving in the Stoke-on-Trent South Circuit, David also has pastoral oversight of the Methodist Churches at Wesley, Stoke; Trentham; Trent Vale; and Victoria Road in Fenton, in addition to the Church here at Temple Street.
His enthusiastic, infectious personality is evident when you talk to him, and it’s easy to see that Jesus is there at the centre of his life.
